Seventeen switchbacks of varying length lead to a pine-covered ridge top, which the trails follows. occasional viewpoints provide pleasant rest stops. Above the treeline the trail is somewhat indistinct, follow rock cairns and watch for well trodden parts of the trail on the ground. Follow the height of the land over a couple of minor summits, past a radio repeater and up to the main peak. There is no water along the trail until a small alpine lake just beyond the radio tower. From the lake it isn’t far to the summit in a direct line up the summit ridge.
From Valemount travel north on Highway 5 for 6km to Stone Road which is almost opposite the Mt Terry Fox rest area. Turn right onto Stone Road then immediately left onto Tinsley Road. Cross the CNR tracks, about 0.5km after the tracks take the left branch of the road which soon crosses Teepee Creek. Just beyond the creek a small road turns to the right, Ascend this road about 400m to the trail head.
