Trail Description

From the kiosk follow the logging road through the cut block, parallel to the creek. At the edge of the block the skid road becomes a swath of felled trees to provide a snowmobile trail to the alpine. The felled timber provides a bit of the hurdle but its relatively easy going. Follow to the alpine. The cabin is just a bit further and should be marked with flagging. You can hike over a pass on the left side of Mt Renshaw and down to the National Hiking Trail, or go over a pass on the right side of Mt Renshaw and climb down the valley floor to the NHT. The left side is much easier.

Trail Access

From McBride turn onto Mountainview Road and follow it northwest. It’s 10 km to the end of the pavement and then a further 9km to the McKale Creek (Blackwater River) Bridge. Do not cross the bridge but continue on the Blackwater for 23 km. At the end of the derivable road there will be a Snowmobile kiosk and another bridge. Park there.
